Callaway Pro Caddie Golf Ball Retriever/Dispenser

Callaway Pro Caddie Ball Feeder features:
  • Encourages golfers to slow down and focus on one shot at a time
  • Dispenses golf balls with a tap of the club
  • Holds up to 36 golf balls
  • Retractable legs and runner for easy storage
  • Allows for easy range work and ball pickup
    Customer Review: Convenience
My son has taken up golf and is 5 years old. Since we purchased a Practice Net and Mat, this has made practicing more convenient. You are able to keep on hitting balls without having to move from your setup. This keeps the pace of hitting more fluid and consistent. Once all of about 34 balls have been hit, it is easy to pickup the balls from the net using the Callaway Pro Caddie. You can also bring this to the range as well!

  • Butch Harmon Laser Trainer

The best way to understand your swing is to SEE your swing. To do this you need immediate visual feedback as you go through your swing. The only problem is that the most critical elements of your golf swing - the swing path and swing plane - cannot be seen with the naked eye. That is, a swing path and swing plane are theoretical elements of a swing that require something besides your eyes to see -- a tool is needed. This is precisely where the Laser Trainer provides dramatic help.
    Customer Review: Instant feedback
When I used this product the first time, I was surprised to see how much I was off the ideal plane. I could immediately correct my swing and when I started hitting balls, my new swing felt more natural and the shots went straighter. The only negative I have is that the enclosed VHS tape is useless as I have thrown out my video-player a long time ago.
Customer Review: A great tool for swing plane
I am a low handicap golfer [usually shooting in the 70's] but was plagued by inconsistant ball flight [pushes/blocks to the right and pulls to the left]. I bought the laser trainer to help with my consistantcy and repeatability with my swing. The laser trainer immediately showed me that my swing plane was considerably off from the ideal. I think the best part of the laser trainer is that it gets you in the ideal position on the backswing. To be accurate, it doesn't give you feedback at the top of the backswing as the lasers aren't visible on the mat at that point. But, it gets you into correct position/plane at the point where your left arm is parallel to the ground and your wrists are set/cocked. From there, it's only a matter of swinging back a little further to complete the swing. I was surprised at how incorrect my technique was prior to using the laser trainer. With consistant use, it becomes second nature getting the club on plane on the backswing. It also gives you feedback on the downswing position coming into the ball. Since using this trainer I have a very consistant ball flight and as much power as before but with less effort due to better technique/plane. I haven't used the trainer as a putting aid at this point but I imagine it would be very useful in that respect as well. I have also tried other swing trainers {Medicus, Pro Angle Plus] with some success, with the Medicus probably the best next to the laser trainer. But the laser trainer for me has given me the best results as there is no way to 'cheat' the device to make it work with incorrect technique, the lasers show you if you are on plane or not. Like any trainer, you need to use it to get results, but if you do, it should help golfers at all levels to improve by getting the swing on plane.

Who's Your Caddy?: Looping for the Great, Near Great, and Reprobates of Golf

To really know someone, as the saying goes, you must walk a mile in their shoes. But to really understand a golfer, you've got to work as their caddy. Sports Illustrated columnist Rick Reilly managed to get some very intriguing golfers to let him lug their bag and write what he learned both about the game and the folks who play it. Going hole to hole with them let Reilly know a different side of veterans such as John Daly, David Duval, Tom Lehman, and Jack Nicklaus. But Reilly also went beyond the pros to caddy for Deepak Chopra, Donald Trump, professional gambler Dewey Tomko, and Bob Newhart. In some cases, the portraits that emerge fall directly in line with the popular image but at other times it's just the opposite. Daly is sober but has shifted his addiction to massive amounts of Diet Coke, candy, and marriages; Duval is intensely driven during rounds but surprisingly laid back and friendly off the course; Chopra's inner peace is locked in a mortal battle with the inherent frustrations of golf; and Trump manages to be both an egomaniac and a pretty nice fellow. And although he's on assignment to profile his temporary employers, Reilly emerges as an entertaining figure in his own right as he commits numerous faux pas, breaks taboos, infuriates multiple golfers and caddies, accidentally dumps all of Nicklaus's clubs onto the turf in the middle of a round, and discovers that caddying is tougher than it looks. Reilly walks a nice line with the tone of Who's Your Caddy?: it's reverent to the game without becoming a misty-eyed poetic ode, and it's laugh-out-loud funny without being nasty or low brow. And while golf fans will certainly appreciate it, Who's Your Caddy? is an impressive book for fans of biography in general. --John Moe
Customer Review: Score This One an Eagle
Outstanding look at the whacky, wonderful and seldom thought about behind the scenes life of a caddy on the pro tour. Rick Reilly at his best--humor, sincerity, and warmth...a splice of life, the good life, the real life. You will come away with a new and greater appreciation of those who play the greatest game of all, the "loopers" who help them play it, and, in the last chapter, the game itself, why we all love it so. An excellent book...Don't miss this one!
Customer Review: He phoned this one in
As I finished the book, I realized that it annoyed me that Reilly took up caddying without really trying to learn how to do it. He started at the Masters with no experience and didn't do very well. He didn't seem to improve much . . . even with experience. I thought he showed a fundamental disrespect for his craft, the game and for the golfers he served by taking this approach. Thinking about my reaction, I thought about the responsibility we all have to do our best to serve others when that is our task. I'll try to do it much better after reading this book.

    Customer Review: junk
i just got this thing and hit it about 10 time and the pengulum broke and can not find parts. if I knew that the striking zone was plastic i whould of not got it...
    Customer Review: JUNK! BEWARE...
This thing broke during the first use. Even when it did work, it would move when the ball was hit. This thing was so cheap, I knew I should have just returned it when I opened the box (I almost did). Please trust that you will not be happy with this.

  • Tales from Q School: Inside Golf's Fifth Major

Acclaimed sports writer John Feinstein tells the stories of the players who competed for the coveted PGA Tour positions in the 2005 Q School and the powerful lessons they learned along the way. With arresting accounts from established winners, rising stars, the defeated, and the endlessly hopeful, he unearths the story behind the PGA's brutal all-or-nothing competition.
    Customer Review: Q School
Couldn't put it down. If you're a golfer this is a must read. If you aren't a golfer, but like real drama this is also for you. Feinstein gives you everything you need to understand it all and be intrigued. He's a terrific writer.
    Customer Review: Disappointed
I really enjoyed A Good Walk Spoiled and picked this book up when I was looking for something a little less heavy than what I had been reading. Granted, it is an easy read and won't strain your brain. However, my biggest complaint is the constant repeating of facts and anecdotes. This really drove me insane as I can remember something that I had just read a couple of pages back! The player stories just never really "tugged" at me nor made me really care about their stories very much. In retrospect, maybe I shouldn't have expected much lightness when reading about Q School and maybe it really isn't that interesting of an event. The book is OK, but don't expect too much.

    Count on Golf

Children are introduced to numbers in a fun way as they help Jimmy, the golfing bear, prepare for a golf tournament.
Customer Review: A creative way for kids to practice counting and learn about golf!
I bought this book at a PGA event and fell in love with it. My 3 year old twins (boy and girl) LOVE this book! Not only does it introduce golf terms to them, but it makes counting fun and it has a cute rhyming sequence for each page. Would highly recommend it!
Customer Review: Do you want your child to love golf as much as you do?
I bought this book a few years ago for my daughter and it has become a family favorite. The book helps children learn to count in a fun way all the while teaching them the terms of golf. The pages count from one to ten from tees to irons all with wonderful pictures. This book makes a great gift. Also, recommend The ABC's of golf also by Greene. A great way to interest children at a young age to the game of golf.

The Seventh at St. Andrews: How Scotsman David McLay Kidd and His Ragtag Band Built the First New Course onGolf's Holy Soil in Nearly a Century

When Scotland's storied St. Andrews Links Trust decided to build a seventh golf course, scheduled to open in 2008, the well-known architect of Oregon's Bandon Dunes, David McLay Kidd, was commissioned. Author Scott Gummer chronicles the days in the dirt and the nights in the pubs in this process story of how a band of diverse artists came together on a derelict potato farm and unearthed a field of golfing dreams. The vision, passion and adventure of construction are all here, including a hole-by-hole commentary by the architect.
Customer Review: interesting dynamics, colorful characters -- but is the course good?
the book suits my tastes well. i'm always interested in how passionate people come together to develop ideas, overcome obstacles, and get things done. double-bonus that the theme is golf. i hope to play "the Seventh" someday and experience, first hand, whether the intense passion and unusual approach of the team and its leaders actually produced a good result.
Customer Review: The Seventh at St. Andrews
I purchased this book as a favor for my great-aunt who wanted this book as a gift for her son. She was told by a friend this would be a great book for my cousin as he is an avid golfer.

    Golf Digest's Book of Drills

These drills are designed for beginners and experienced players alike. Drills on curing a slice, the full swing, bunker play, conditioning and warming-up and much more.
Customer Review: Complementary to the 8 Step Swing
This is a solid book to help reinforce lessons based upon Jim McLean's 8 Step Swing. This covers the full swing down to putting. A brief introduction followed by simple illustrations and explanations help the student understand the necessary movements. Many of the drills are covered by websites and monthly golf magazine articles; however, this is a compendium of drills to help any level of golfer. Overall, this is a book that complements conventional golf techniques.
Customer Review: How to Fix What Ails Your Swing
To change a swing you've got to groove it. To do that, you need a drill. Here is a book of over 100 of them, from a full-swing to short game, to alignment and warmup. McClain does a great job here, and the illustrations are helpful. Excellent helps for correcting a slice and increasing club head speed.

    Just Hit It

Former USGA technical director and engineer of the graphite shaft, Frank Thomas is revered for his knowledge and passion for the game. The world's leading expert on golf equipment explains how golf equipment works, describes which features matter and which ones don't, debunks common misperceptions and demonstrates that what's newest and latest may not be any better than what you already own. Practical, philosophical, and historical all at once, this important book features a foreword from Jack Nicklaus, with comments from Nick Price and David Leadbetter.
Customer Review: Just the facts about the Golf Equipment Industry
For 26 years as the USGA Technical Director, Frank Thomas has written a poignant book about the evolution of golf technology. He covers the technology and myths of equipment and what has translated to the biggest technological advances in the game. He writes in a clear but not necessarily concise manner but he makes important points through history and vignettes that should guide you in what you really need to play the game. I highly recommend reading this book. Other books that I recommend that cover similar subjects are below : The Right Sticks: Equipment Myths That Could Wreck Your Golf Game The Mad Science of Golf: On moving past golf industry hype and learning to play better golf The Search for the Perfect Golf Club
Customer Review: NY Times Review Overrated
I bought the book based on the review in the New York Times. I was disappointed in the book. Too much "filler' and not enough real knowledge.

The Future of Golf: How Golf Lost Its Way and How to Get It Back

Have you noticed that courses are becoming glorified driving ranges designed to accommodate the yardage gains of so-called technological advancements? You are not alone. If you feel that the traditional game is in a state of crisis, you may be right. The Future of Golf is a relevant and refreshingly hard look at modern golf. A mix of commentary, analysis and essays, The Future of Golf contends that the game of golf has been hijacked by corporate interests, while it's governing associations turn a blind eye. This thought provoking book is a hands-down, must-have addition to any golfer's collection.
Customer Review: The Future of Golf
If you, like me, are concerned about what is happening to golf and feel that technology has gone too far, then this book is a "Must".
Customer Review: The most important golf book now in publication.
This is nothing less than the most important book on the game of golf now in print. It is the most important golf book of the last 25 years, and is probably the most important golf book since the writing of C. B. Macdonald, Bernard Darwin and even Bob Jones. It is not an elegant book; others, including Shackelford himself have written books that are far more beautiful in terms of lavish publications. But the comparisons that have been made between this book and Thomas Paine's "Common Sense" are apt. This book is a call to arms in the golf technology arms race. These are direct, pithy, clear-eyed essays that will provoke any reader to challenge about half of what is becoming the accepted state of affairs in the world of golf. You cannot be a serious-minded student of the game of golf in the 21st Century without reading, and indeed studying, this book.

  • The Augusta National Golf Club: Alister MacKenzie's Masterpiece

This book reveals the true genius of the Augusta National Golf Club like no other-documenting its original design, chronicling the architectural and design changes over time, and analyzing the philosophies of its creators, Alister MacKenzie and Bobby Jones. The Augusta National Golf Club will help you understand why the course has a reputation of legendary proportion and how MacKenzie single-handedly changed forever the way courses are built.
    Customer Review: Amateurish.
I purchased this book and subsequently returned it. For all of its promise regarding documentation of changes to the course and side-by-side drawings comparing the original holes to the present-day versions, it was a supreme disappointment. I am very knowledgeable on the subject of The Masters and the Augusta National Golf Club, and nothing in this book can't be found in the other four or five exceptional books on the history of the tournament and the golf course. What's more, the diagrams of the holes are not in proportion (i.e., the drawing of the 1934 version of a hole is not drawn in the same scale as the drawing of the present version of the same hole); for a course which has been lengthened by hundreds of yards over 70 years, it would be nice to be able to compare such yardage changes in the side-by-side drawings. As presented, however, each individual drawing is shrunken or enlarged to fit the dimensions of the page, and scale is not considered. The drawings are also clumsily drawn and lettered by hand, which is not aesthetically pleasing in the least and is exceedingly amateurish; given the wide range of easily accessible graphic design software now available, this is inexcusable. I cannot recommend this book. Instead, a purchaser is much better off buying the books by Frank Christian, David Owen, David Sowell, or Charles Price.
    Customer Review: Nice Vintage Pictures
I actually got to walk out on this course. The Augusta National Golf Club grounds crew (a relative of mine worked there) get to play the course one day a year, on "Play Day" in May. I was the lucky guest of my relative. No picture book or video can do this course justice. You actually have to be there to see how big and "wavy" some of the hills and greens are. Anyway, this book has a lot of good photos, like the one with Bobby Jones and company standing near what today is the 12th hole. I also like the original hole illustrations set next to illustrations of what the holes look like today. This is a great book to add to your Masters Collection.

    Golf Etiquette, Revised Edition

This book provides an understanding of the accepted courtesies of the course. It boils down to thoughtfulness. Golf is called a gentleman's game where good sportsmanship and fair play count for something. It should always be played in an honorable way. This book tells you how to do just that. How to dress for the course, how to find clubs, tee times, finding people to play with, what to do before you play golf and at the practice range. It covers teeing off, fairways, hazards on the green, as well as what you can expect in terms of betting, talking business at the golf course, etc.
Customer Review: Every golfer should read this book at least once!
Every new golfer (and maybe some who have been playing for awhile, if you know what I mean) should have to read this book. It provides useful tips on how to properly conduct yourself on the course, the club house, and pro shop, so you don't make an a$$ of yourself. If you don't have an experienced golfer to show you the ropes, this book can do the job!
    Customer Review: Golf Etiquette
This is a must book for the beginner to scratch golfer. Given the burgeoning popularity of golf, every golfer should read this book to ensure the heritage and customs are adheared to. From what to wear to when to speak, this book will keep any golfer out of trouble. Small enough to carry on or off the course. A fun and educational read.

Harvey Penick'S Little Red Book: Lessons And Teachings From A Lifetime In Golf

2 Book Set; Harvey Penick's Little Red Book; for All Who Love the Game.
Customer Review: a mother and retired librarian
Harvey Penick's Little Red Book: Lessons and Teachings from a Lifetime in Golf first came to my attention in the comic strip Judge Parker. After that, I looked it up at Amazon.com and decided to order copies for my two sons who enjoy golf. They were pleasantly surprised when Amazon delivered a copy to each of them. Both of them have read and enjoyed Harvey Penick's advice which comes in short, but meaningful anecdotes.
Customer Review: Essential Golf Book for any Serious Golfer
A must have. Great tips on how to improve your golf game. Unlike the ad naseum wave of golf instruction that one can get bogged down in in Golf Magazines and instructional videos, this is simple straight forward approaches to improve your game.
